Steve Jobs Presentation

I've thought about the presentation and decided to present it on a very special and important person. I shall do my presentation on Steve Paul Jobs, to us known just as Steve Jobs (former CEO of Apple).
Here is a timeline of Steve Jobs for the last 5 years:

2006 Jan. 10 Steve Jobs introduces the first two Intel Macs at Macworld, the iMac and the MacBook Pro.
Jan. 24 The Walt Disney Company acquires Pixar for $7.4 billion, and Steve joins the board.
Feb. 28 Apple releases its first living-room product, the iPod hi-fi.
Apr. 18 Steve Jobs announces Apple’s intention to erect a second campus in Cupertino.
Aug. 7 Apple completes the transition of its entire product line to the Intel platform with Mac Pro.

2007 Jan. 9 Steve Jobs introduces Apple TV and iPhone at Macworld. Apple Computer becomes Apple Inc.
Apr. The SEC files charges against Apple’s Nancy Heinen and Fred Anderson for options backdating.
Jun. 29 iPhone is released in the US, the same day as Pixar’s Ratatouille.
Dec. 5 Steve Jobs is inducted in the California Hall of Fame by Gov. Schwartzenegger.

2008 Jan. 15 Steve Jobs introduces the world’s thinnest notebook, the MacBook Air, at Macworld.
Mar. 6 Apple announces it will open the iPhone platform to outside developers with the App Store.
Aug. The SEC clears Steve Jobs of any responsibilities in the options backdating scandal.

2009 Jan. 5 Steve Jobs takes a medical leave of absence for six months.
Apr. Steve has surgery for a liver transplant.
Aug. 3  Google CEO Eric Schmidt leaves Apple's board because of conflicting interests due to Android.
Aug. 28 Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, stripped off any code from the original Mac OS.
Sep. 9 Steve Jobs makes his first public appearance of the year at an Apple Music Event.

2010 Jan. 27 Steve Jobs unveils iPad, the much-anticipated Apple tablet.

Steve has worked in Apple for many years: he started Apple, then he got fired and so he left and founded NeXt, then later Apple bought NeXt bringing Steve back to Apple.

'In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd, which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios. He was credited in Toy Story (1995) as an executive producer. He remained CEO and majority shareholder at 50.1 percent until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2006, making Jobs Disney's largest individual shareholder at seven percent and a member of Disney's Board of Directors. Apple's 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, and he served as its interim CEO from 1997, then becoming permanent CEO from 2000, onwards, spearheading the advent of the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, and iPad.In buying NeXT, Apple also "acquired the operating system that became Mac OS X." From 2003, Jobs fought an eight-year battle with cancer, and eventually resigned as CEO in August 2011, while on his third medical leave. He was then elected chairman of Apple's board of directors.'

Steve has presented many of the gadgets which mostly everyone uses such as: the iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad and Macs. Steve's favourite was the iPhone. It was his main project and a device that he put all his heart and soul into. Steve went around showing people the iPhone, for example he showed the Russian President how to use the iPhone 4 in 2010.

Steve was friends with Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, even though they had a long rivalry.

Steve unfortunately died on 5th October 2010, he was only 56, but he suffered from pancreatic cancer and that brought his final blow.

We will all remember Steve as an visionary and a creative genius, as well as an amazing human being. He has helped bring up our technology to where it is today.
Have a look at my previous posts when Steve Jobs died, there is some information and thoughts about him.

Read this - a quote about him:
'Steve Jobs is undeniably an extraordinary man by any standard. He has left his mark on no less than five industries: personal computers with Apple II and Macintosh, music with iPod and iTunes, phone with iPhone, and animation with Pixar. The middle-class hippie kid with no college education that he was built a computer empire and became a multi-millionaire in a few years, was fired from his own company before coming back a decade later to save it and turn it into one of the world’s most influential corporations, with millions of fans around the world. He has also contributed to the creation of the new leader in animated movies for decades to come. He has been called a fluke for years, but is now widely acknowledged as one the world’s most eminent business executives and an unrivaled visionary. He has changed millions of lives by making technology easy-to-use, exciting and beautiful.… And you know what the best part is? He’s not done yet.'

I will do the presentation and put it up for you to see. The info above is short and I will of course add.

Research on Roger Federer

Research on Roger Federer

I have to do a project on ‘something’. I’m confused what to do (any ideas?), but after spending time thinking about it, I think I might have come to a conclusion.

Here is some interesting information I found on Roger Federer (ATP Tennis Player):

  1. He has held the ATP no. 1 position for a record 237 consecutive weeks and 285 weeks overall.
  2. He’s from Switzerland.
  3. He is ranked World No. 3
  4. Federer has won a men's record 16 Grand Slam singles titles.
  5. Federer has been in 100 finals, of which he’s won 70!
  6. He won the ATP World Tour Finals tournament in London recently!
  7. Federer’s worst surface is clay (what he’s still amazing on it!)
  8. His best surface is grass (Wimbledon).
  9. Federer is best friends with Rafael Nadal, who is World Number 2. They’ve had a long rivalry.
  10. Federer has been playing pro since 1998.
  11. He plays right-handed.
  12. He’s earned nearly $70,000,000 prize money
  13. He is a legend!

Please send me/comment any interesting or important information, I shall be very grateful.

Just to mention, this was ALL written using HTML code!!!

The Pace of Change 2

Matt Edgar also commentates on how now we use the Internet for everything. He says that now instead of going to the library and searching through the books to find the answer to our question, we just type it into a search engine, even though the answer will be less accurate and probably worse as well as less fitting to our needs.
This shows how our generation has changed. It has become more technologically advanced, making the technology do the work for us. Our generation has become lazier with the Internet and we mainly depend on it.
Matt Edgar uses some good examples, which show how we have changed and moved on, but I believe this has made us lazier.
Think about this:
Order the journal or cut and paste from a random Google Books snippet view?
Track down the original 12-inch vinyl or settle for the bedroom remix on MP3?
Search through books in the library or search for it on the Internet and settle for any answer?
You know what you should do, and you know what you will do.

Matt Edgar uses a metaphor ‘like a theatrical lighting effect’ to describe the above. Using it he means that the technological side is so bright and visible to us that it darkens the non-technological stuff so we don’t see it and forget about it.

I find this idea very worrying, but on the other hand, interesting and true.

THE RATE OF CHANGE IS QUICKLY CHANGING AND SO ARE WE...

THE RATE OF CHANGE IS QUICKLY CHANGING AND SO ARE WE...
The rate of change and how quickly we adapt to it is rapidly increasing. Isn’t it amazing how long radio took to reach a global popularity? It took 40 years! The television took not as long, but still 10 years! For us this seems impossible. We use the television everyday and don’t see anything complicated about it, but humans, we, took 10 years to ‘adapt to television! As we were improving technologically, our brains could slightly understand different technology, so the iPod took 5 years to ‘adapt’ to – I still think this is very long!
Then YouTube, created in February 2005 only took 6 months to get used to… This time can be understood. People were now fairly technologically advanced, but still not as much as we are now so it took them half a year, but compared to the radio that’s 80 times faster!!!
The new Google+ is predicted to become very popular within less than 6 months, around 3 months! I am sure you have all heard about Google+ and some of you might have even tried it; it is like an improved version of Facebook.

I find these facts astonishing and hard to believe – what do you think?

Some people argue about how we measure the time it took for a product to get ‘adapted’ to, a major argument is that Twitter, something that was created in 2006 and is very popular now, took 212 years to become globally used and popular.
‘Why not just chain together sequential inventions in the field of short messaging, from the 1794 Chappe telegraph to Twitter in 2006? 212 years! What took you so long, Jack Dorsey?’

Without doubt, these measurements might not be completely accurate, but they are enough to see how we humans are technologically advancing and getting to know things and start using new thinks quicker. This also shows that now products spread globally in seconds, compared to a few decades ago.
The idea with Twitter takes 212 years to develop, I believe is complete rubbish… I believe that the data we have it quite accurate for us to use it.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs Dies

Steve Jobs, the Apple founder and former CEO, has died at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer. "The world has lost a visionary."

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."

Sadly, Steve Jobs passed away on Wednesday 5th October 2011.

We shall remember him forever.

09:22 It may have sold out before it even went on sale, but Barack Obama managed to get his hands on Apple's tablet device before it hit the shops - after being given one personally by Steve Jobs.
It is no secret that the President is an avowed Blackberry user, but he could be tempted by an early look at Apple's latest handset, which has voice control and a faster chip.
